PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Supporting tissue repair using plasma derived from your own blood.

PRP involves drawing your own blood, separating it in a centrifuge to obtain the platelet-rich plasma fraction, and injecting that plasma into the skin or scalp. The aim is for the growth factors within the platelets to stimulate tissue repair. Because no foreign substance is added, the risk of allergy is very low.

Who it is suitable for

Who it is suitable for

  • People with early-stage hair loss or thinning hair
  • Those with dull skin tone and reduced tissue quality
  • People who prefer working with their own tissue rather than an external product
  • Those seeking a supportive treatment alongside procedures such as microneedling

Who it is not suitable for

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Disorders of platelet count or function
  • Active cancer treatment
  • Active infection or an active blood-borne illness
  • Use of blood thinners (requires physician assessment)
  • Completely bald, shiny areas where follicles are lost — PRP does not create new follicles

Step by step

  1. Before your appointment

Do not come fasting and drink plenty of water, as this makes the blood draw easier. Tell us if you use blood-thinning medication. For scalp treatment, the scalp should be clean.

  2. On the day

Around 10–20 ml of blood is drawn from your arm. It is spun in a closed-system centrifuge for 8–10 minutes to separate the plasma. The treatment area is prepared meanwhile.

  3. During the procedure

The plasma is delivered through numerous small injections with fine needles. The scalp is more sensitive than the face. The injection phase takes 15–20 minutes.

  4. How you will feel afterwards

Redness, a feeling of fullness and tenderness are expected and settle within a few hours. A mild tight feeling on the scalp for a few days is normal. You can return to your routine the same day.

  5. Follow-up

Do not wash your hair for 24 hours and avoid sauna and intense exercise for 48 hours. For hair, results are not assessed before the third month. A maintenance session every six months may be suggested after the series.

Risks and side effects

The following can occur with this treatment. Most are temporary; the rare and serious ones are noted separately.

  • Redness, swelling and tenderness at injection sites — expected
  • Bruising where blood was drawn
  • Temporary headache or tightness on the scalp
  • Rarely, infection — not expected when sterile technique is followed
  • Faintness related to the blood draw, prevented by lying down

Frequently asked questions

Does PRP stop hair loss?

PRP aims to support existing but weakened follicles; it does not bring back follicles that are entirely lost. It gives more meaningful results in early-stage loss and when the underlying cause — hormonal, iron deficiency, thyroid — is addressed alongside it. Presenting it alone as a permanent solution would not be accurate.

Since my own blood is used, is it completely risk-free?

The risk of allergic reaction is very low because nothing foreign is added. However, the risks of the injection itself — bruising, tenderness and, very rarely, infection — remain. Closed-system kits and sterile conditions keep these to a minimum.

When will I see results?

Changes in skin quality begin to be noticeable within 4–6 weeks. For hair, because of the hair growth cycle, no assessment is made before three months; some people see a temporary increase in shedding in the first weeks, which is an expected response.

Can PRP and mesotherapy be combined?

Yes. They work through different mechanisms and can be used within the same treatment plan, though usually alternated rather than combined in one session. Which combination suits you is decided together after assessing your skin or scalp.
