CaHA (Calcium Hydroxylapatite)

Gradual support for laxity and wrinkles by stimulating the skin’s own collagen.

Performed by the physician at the practice in İzmit, Kocaeli.

CaHA is an injectable containing calcium hydroxylapatite that stimulates the skin’s own collagen production. With the appropriate dilution it can be used in different areas such as the face, neck, décolletage and back of the hands. The effect builds gradually; it becomes visible from the third month and lasts 18–24 months.

Step by step

  1. Assessment

We assess how much laxity and wrinkling there is and where. The dilution of the product is chosen for each area and need; the same dilution is not used on the face, neck and body.

  2. The procedure

The area is cleansed and numbing cream is applied. The product is injected into the planned areas. The procedure takes about 45 minutes.

  3. The following months

There may be swelling in the first days. Because the main effect depends on the skin’s collagen production, it appears gradually rather than straight away, becoming visible from the third month.

  4. Second session

If laxity and wrinkles are marked, a second session is planned six months after the first. The effect lasts 18–24 months.

Risks and side effects

The following can occur with this treatment. Most are temporary; the rare and serious ones are noted separately.

  • Swelling — expected, lasting a few days
  • Local bleeding and bruising
  • Acute vascular occlusion — the most serious and most feared risk. It can result from the product compressing a vessel or entering it (embolisation). It requires emergency management, which is why the procedure must be performed by a physician.

Frequently asked questions

How is CaHA different from hyaluronic acid filler?

Hyaluronic acid filler provides volume at the moment of injection. CaHA works mainly by stimulating the skin’s own collagen production, so the result builds gradually and lasts longer. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed; CaHA cannot be dissolved this way.

When does CaHA start working and how long does it last?

The effect becomes visible from the third month and lasts 18–24 months. Early on, part of what you see is swelling; the real result emerges over months as collagen builds.

Which areas can CaHA be used on?

With the appropriate dilution it can be used on many areas: the face, neck, décolletage, back of the hands, knees and elbows, and areas with the appearance of cellulite. The dilution for each area is decided at the consultation.
